With a mission to establish an exclusive teacher training institute in the field of education, Sikh Educational Council started a new venture in the form of Sant Baba Hari Singh Memorial Khalsa College of Education (co-education) from the session 2006-07, which has achieved a sublime position in the State. The institute is recognised by National Council for Teacher Education, India and affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh. The institute has an intake of 100 seats in B.Ed.and 50 sears in D/El.Ed./E.T.T. course. The institute is well known for its reputation, dedicated faculty, well established infrastructural and institutional facilities to provide best teaching learning environment and all-round development of its students. In the last 14 years, the college has proved it's worth to produce responsible citizen not only in the field of academics, but also outshine in different activities.

Sant Baba Hari Singh Memorial Khalsa College of Education is situated within the spacious campus of SGGS Khalsa College, Mahilpur. The college has modern infrastructure, spacious and airy, smart classrooms. The college have a multipurpose hall for the general function and the seminars in the college.

The college is equipped with a well-established library with a large no. of Books related to various subjects, Reference Books, Encyclopedias, Educational Journals, Newspapers, Magazines, Educational Surveys and many more. The Library is updated according to the latest requirements and curriculum, includes e-library facility with Wi-Fi zone for the students.

College has fully air-conditioned Information and Communication Laboratory with printers and internet facility, where pupil teacher taught computer skills of for teaching media technologies. The students are trained to develop teaching learning material and supplementary devices as slide shows, working models and educational/ language games.

Micro teaching and Simulation teaching are the main features to demonstrate the teaching by the expert teacher educators who are trained in teaching with smart boards. Language lab is developed to train the pupil teachers in speaking and listening languages skills (English, Hindi and Punjabi) under expert guidance. They develop material for correct listening and its reproduction and speaking which is inevitable for a language teacher.

The college has a well-equipped Psychology Resource centre having more than 50 psychological tests and equipment where pupil teachers are exposed to psychological impressions. A career guidance cell is also established for guidance and counselling of students.

Curriculum Resource centre is well established where the pupil teachers are demonstrated and acquainted with the use of equipment adequately in their teaching for making it more understandable and interesting.

The college organize guest lecturers, seminars, workshops, discussions and orientation programs for the teacher trainees to update with latest information of the world around time to time. For the seminars or literary events college has a magnificent theatre cum auditorium which is an asset to the college building. This auditorium is fitted with latest technology mike and LCD projector used for showing educational films and the videos based on the actual teaching learning situations.

The college has been maintaining the decorum of quality and discipline since its establishment from 2006. The expert faculty helps the trainees not only in the field of teaching learning but also helps to develops multi-dimensional skill among trainee teachers.

Music Department is also maintained with requisite musical instruments and music systems. The aim is to promote the cultural heritage and values through various programmes and activities in the college like academic, cultural, recreational and educational celebrations of all the important days and inter-house and out-campus participation in various competitions are organized to develop the feeling of brotherhood and team spirit among pupil teachers. Varied optional subjects have been introduced which includes Candle Making, Music (Vocal & Instrumental), Gardening, Interior Decoration and Physical Education to develop other hobbies and interests. Time to time various The college has big playgrounds and no. of sports equipment both for outdoor and indoor games. A gymnasium is also provided to the students for the physical development.

Morning assembly is conducted daily by house on duty with the help of teacher in-charge. The morning assembly is conducted turn by turn by the various houses Prayer, thought for the day, weekly news, devotional /patriotic songs, skits, lecture on current topics and national anthem are the major events to develop various social and life skills.

The college has also uniform for the trainee teachers i.e. sky blue Salwar Kameez with Navy blue Dupatta for girls and sky blue shirt, Navy blue trousers, navy blue Turban and Blazer.

Various Clubs are functioning in the college like Red Ribbon Club with the help of Pushpa Gujral Science City Kapurthala for the awareness of AIDS in the surrounding area of the Mahilpur organizing the events time to time. An ECO CLUB through which the people are made aware of clean environment, balance of Eco system, clean habitat, and preservation of natural resources. Cultural and Heritage Club organize the activities to promote our heritage and culture and participation in the events related to these, organize the tours and visits to historical places and cultural heritage programmes. The pupil teachers are given exposures and training to organize these activities.

Hostel facility is provided separately for boy and girls. The hostel has well ventilated rooms with adequate facilities. Generator facility is also provided. Canteen and mess facility has been available to the students.

During the session 2011-12 the college inspected by NAAC team and accredited with Grade 'B'.

The college organized Panjab University Zonal Youth and Heritage Festivals in 2012 & 2013. Many a times Panjab University Zonal and Inter-Zonal Skill In Teaching and On the Spot Preparation of Teaching Aid Competitions. The college is committed to serve the society and nation and giving the 100% result academically.
